Women's tennis sweeps weekend with 4-1 win

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Lipscomb women’s tennis team swept both matches this weekend.

Saturday morning the Lady Bisons beat Jacksonville State 4-1 at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center. Lipscomb is 10-3. Jacksonville State, from the Ohio Valley Conference, is 3-12.

Friday Lipscomb beat Evansville 5-2.

“We were happy to be able to play outdoor at home,” Lipscomb coach Jamie Aid said. “These were our first matches outside at home this season due to weather.

“Our girls came out early Saturday morning and quickly clinched the match against Jacksonville. I thought our attitude and effort was very good.”

The Lady Bisons start Atlantic Sun play this week with Florida Gulf Coast visiting Thursday at 10 a.m.

Friday Lipscomb goes out of conference to face Morehead at home at 4 p.m.

“We have three very good teams at the front of our conference schedule with FGCU, UNF and Stetson,” Aid said. “After FGCU the next week we play on the road at North Florida and Stetson.

“To go 2-0 on our courts this weekend gave our girls confidence moving into FGCU. We have had the best non- conference record in program history. I think we have great momentum moving into the conference schedule.”
