Kromer earns first-ever A-Sun tennis POTW

MACON, Ga. - Lipscomb's Melissa Kromer notched her first career Atlantic Sun Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor after dominating the competition in singles and doubles, announced Wednesday by the league office.

Kromer, a senior from Mahlberg, Germany, tallied two wins at No. 5 singles and another at No. 1 doubles to lead the Lady Bisons to two-straight wins at home over Evansville and Jacksonville State.

Against the Purple Aces Kromer paired with Laura Kent to defeat Evansville 6-2 before notching a double-bagel victory at No. 5 singles.

Against the Gamecocks, the senior rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 win as Lipscomb defeated JSU 4-1.

Kromer is the third Lipscomb women’s tennis player to earn A-Sun weekly honors this season. Hanna Victorsson and Kent also have been named.

Lipscomb is back in A-Sun action Friday against Florida Gulf Coast at 11 a.m. at Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center.
