Women's tennis drops 4-3 match at Stetson

DELAND, Fla. – The Lipscomb women’s tennis team is still searching for its first Atlantic Sun Conference win after a two-match trip to Florida.

Saturday, after a day of delays due to weather conditions, the Lady Bisons fell 4-3 to the Stetson Hatters Saturday at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.

Lipscomb falls to 10-4, 0-3 in the A-Sun. Stetson is 8-8, 4-0 in the conference.

“It was a tough loss,” Aid said. “We had a lot of adversity with the weather.

“We started the day at 5:30 a.m. with the team for a morning match and had to postpone. Midway through the 8 p.m. match start time in doubles we were postponed again due to rain.”

Hannah Gamage and Danielle Kinnen teamed for Lipscomb’s only doubles win, working at the No. 2 spot.

In singles play Laura Kent at No. 3 and Hannah Victorsson at No. 4 both won in straight sets.

“We had a well fought doubles point that came down to the No.1 doubles and Laura Kent and Melissa Kromer lost in a tiebreaker,” Aid said. “In singles the girls split singles.

“Doubles was obviously huge for this match. Going into this match we knew it was going to be close. It was a hard loss.”
