NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb women’s tennis coach Jamie Aid has been pleased with the depth on her team this season.
As the result of a late season roster change that depth is going to be tested starting Thursday at Samford in Birmingham, Alabama. The match begins at 2 p.m. at the Samford Tennis Complex.
Samford, from the Southern Conference, is 9-10 with wins in four of its last six matches. Lipscomb is 12-6 and has won back-to-back matches.
Senior Lorena Djuknic will move into the No. 6 singles spot. Dani Kinnen is expected to step up to play No. 5 singles.
Thabile Tshatedi will fill in the gap in doubles play teaming with Laura Kent at No. 2. Kinnen and Hannah Gamage are expected to move from the No. 2 team to No. 1 in doubles play.
“We have a doubles lineup change as well as in singles,” Aid said. “I think our team is very talented and it is our hope as a coaching staff our players recognize the depth of our team and most importantly believe in that depth.
“Lorena is a senior who had a great fall. Thabile Tshatedi is an extremely talented freshman.”
The Lady Bisons close out the regular season Saturday with an Atlantic Sun match at Kennesaw State. The winner of that match will be the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament. The loser will be the No. 5 seed. Win or lose the first round of the tournament will be a rematch.
“We are excited for our last road trips of the season against Samford and Kennesaw,” Aid said. “We are looking forward to our third trip to the A-Sun Tournament.”
