Women's tennis receives ITA academic awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has honored Lipscomb University’s women’s tennis team for the second year in a row as an ITA All-Academic Team.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the academic year which included fall 2015 and spring 2016.

Katerina Kandybar, Thabile Tshatedi and Lorena Djuknic all earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet be a varsity letter winner, have a grade-point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.

“I am proud of our program moving forward both on and off the court,” Lipscomb women’s tennis coach Jamie Aid said. “To have the demanding schedule these girls have and to maintain a team GPA over a 3.2 is a great accomplishment that illustrates their commitment to being a student-athlete.”
