NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb’s Viktoriya “Vika” Dzyuba is ranked 53rd in the Oracle/ITA Women’s National Singles rankings released Wednesday.
“Vika had a preseason ranking of No. 95 this fall and was able to move to No. 53 for the first week of published spring rankings,” Lipscomb women’s tennis coach Jamie Aid said. “That move up is a culmination of hard work, dedication and great fall play.”
Dzyuba, a sophomore from Kharkiv, Ukraine, transferred to Lipscomb for the 2016-2017 school year from Pacific.
She has also excelled in the classroom with a 3.8 grade point average for the fall 2016 semester.
Dzyuba is expected to be an anchor player for the Lady Bisons this spring.
“I am excited to see her play against a tough schedule this spring,” Aid said. “She will have opportunities to continue to move her ranking higher.
“Her success helps lift all the expectations and play of the team. I am very excited to kick our season off next Friday at home against UAB with this group of girls.”
The season opening match will be played at the Whitworth Indoor Center starting at 7 p.m.
