First home match, trip to Chattanooga on tap for women's tennis

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- The Lipscomb women’s tennis team will play at home and on the road in its second weekend of regular season action.

First up is a meeting with Western Carolina at the Whitworth Indoor Center on Friday at 7 p.m., and then the Bisons will hit the road on Saturday to take on Chattanooga at 5 p.m.

Friday's matchup will be between familar foes as Lipscomb opened its fall season by taking part in the Western Carolina Invitational last September.

During the tournament, which also featured Presbyterian, Tusculum and Young Harris, Denise Buberl and Madeline Brooks each picked up singles wins against Western Carolina. The doubles team of Brooks and Thabile Tshatedi also defeated Western Carolina’s Savannah Taranto and Alexa Webb by a score of 7-5.

On Saturday, Lipscomb will be searching for its first victory in a series that has been dominated by the Mocs, who have won all 10 meetings between the two schools. The Bisons dropped a 4-2 contest to Chattanooga at home last February.

Lipscomb began its spring season with losses at Middle Tennessee and Alabama last weekend. No Bisons recorded a victory, although matches were played in clinch format.

Check on Saturday night for a full recap of both matches. Updates will also be posted to the team’s Twitter page (@LipscombWTennis).
