Road trip to Ohio provides women's tennis with tall task

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Lipscomb women’s tennis team is scheduled to hit the road again this weekend, making the trip to The Buckeye State to take on Xavier and Cincinnati.

The Bisons will face the Musketeers on Friday at 5 p.m., before traveling crosstown to face the Bearcats on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Lipscomb (1-3) is no stranger to the road, having already played away matches at Middle Tennessee, Alabama and Chattanooga over the last two weeks.

A strong doubles performance propelled the Bisons to their first win of the season last Friday, when Lipscomb defeated Western Carolina 4-3. The Bisons then dropped a 4-2 contest at Chattanooga last Saturday.

Xavier also sits at 1-3 overall, with its lone win a 6-1 victory over Eastern Kentucky on Jan. 26. The Muskateers are led by Sophia Abelson, who went 4-0 against EKU and Indiana last weekend and was named Big East Athlete of the Week for her efforts.

Cinnanati brings a 3-2 record into the weekend and boasts victories over Butler, Wright State and Dayton in the early part of the season. Sophomore Caroline Morton is 4-0 in singles play to lead the Bearcats.

A full weekend recap will be posted to last Saturday evening. Fans can also get updates on Twitter (@LipscombWTennis).
