Women's tennis cruises past rival Belmont

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Lipscomb has owned the Battle of the Boulevard rivalry this school year, and the Bisons women’s tennis team did their part to continue that trend on Friday.

Lipscomb (2-5) used four singles victories and the doubles point to power past Belmont, 5-1, at Whitworth Indoor Center.

Kateryna Popova, Viktoryia Dzyuba, Madeleine Brooks and Denise Buberl each defeated their respective Bruin (1-6) opponents in singles action.

In addition, the duos of Dzyuba and Brooks and Kateryna Kandyba and Thabile Tshatedi picked up doubles wins to clinch an extra point for Lipscomb.

Friday’s victory moves Lipscomb one step closer to taking the newly-minted All-Sports Trophy from Belmont. The Bisons now own an 8-4 edge over the Bruins, needing just one more win in either baseball, softball or men’s tennis to clinch the 2017-18 crown.
