Women's tennis looks to continue its winning ways against Titans

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Following a pair of victories last weekend, the Lipscomb women’s tennis team is looking to build some momentum heading into the school’s Spring Break.

The Bisons take on the Detroit Titans on Friday at 3 p.m. The match will be played on campus at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center.

Last weekend, Lipscomb defeated Arkansas State (4-3) and Murray State (4-2) on back-to-back days to snap a two-match losing streak.

Freshman Kateryna Popova is off to an 8-2 start in singles play to lead the Bisons, while junior Viktoriya Dzyuba picked up wins in her last two matches as she continues to get back to full strength after suffering an injury last fall.

SCOUTING THE TITANS:

Detroit brings a 5-8 record into Friday’s match after defeating Tennessee State on Tuesday and Belmont on Thursday. Junior Iris Thioux (7-6) leads the Titans in the No. 1 singles slot, while freshman Jasmine Apawti (6-4) has been successful in the No. 2 spot.

UP NEXT:

With school out of session, Lipscomb will make a rare weekday road trip to South Alabama on Wednesday, March 14. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m. in Mobile. Lipscomb will then travel to Knoxville to take on the Tennessee Volunteers on Sunday, March 18 at 1 p.m.
