NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Lipscomb women’s tennis team is back in action this weekend as it they head to West Lafayette, Indiana for the Purdue Invite. The tournament gets under way Friday morning at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
A week after sending just Kate Popova and Vika Dzyuba to the Milwaukee Classic, head coach Jamie Aid will field her full roster of nine for the three-day event.
The competition features squads from Xavier, Wright State, Miami, Northern Illinois and Western Kentcky.
Popova and Dzyuba will be joined by Denise Buberl and Madeleine Brooks in the 16-team main doubles draw, while the 8-team Gold doubles draw will see tandems of Thabile Tshatedi and Maddox Bandy, and Liza Diachenko and Eleanor Chapman.
Redshirt junior Kate Kandyba will join those eight in singles action.
Last weekend in Milwaukee, Popova and Dzyuba both advanced to the round of 32 where they fell to top-5 seeds. They also teamed up to knock off Arkansas in doubles play, 8-6.
Lipscomb will be back on the court Oct. 11-15 when it travels to Chattanooga for the ITA Regionals.
