Dzyuba, Popova advance to doubles final at ITA Regional

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Lipscomb women’s tennis will make its first-ever appearance in the doubles final of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional after a perfect day on the court.

The ninth-seeded duo of Vika Dzyuba and Kate Popova continued to make history for the Lady Bisons program Sunday by earning their fourth-straight victory with a (6-4, 6-3) decision over Vanderbilt’s No. 5 seed – Carolyn Campana and Emma Kurtz.

The duo will try to finish off their perfect run through the 64-team main doubles draw at 8:30 a.m. Monday when they take on No. 2 seed Christina Rosca and Summer Dvorak, also out of Vandy, in the title match. You can follow along with the live action HERE.

The match will be a best-of-three sets and the winner will take home an automatic bid into next month’s ITA Fall National Championship in Surprise, Arizona.

Dzyuba and Popova have navigated their way through a tough road to get to the final, taking down Cincinnati, No. 4 Vanderbilt, No. 9 Memphis and No. 5 Vandy.
