Women's Tennis announces 2019 spring slate

NASHVILLE - The Lipscomb women’s tennis team is ready to roll into the spring season as head coach Jaime Aid released on Friday the 22-match spring schedule.

Lipscomb will have momentum on its side as the Lady Bisons ended the fall season on a high note at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional. History was made as the dynamic duo of Vika Dzyuba and Kate Popova reached the championship match, going 4-1 and defeating a multitude of ranked opponents on the way. The pair eventually fell to the No. 2 paring from Vanderbilt in a tiebreaker.

In singles play, six out of eight players made it past the first round with Popova and Dzyuba making it to the round of 32 in the 128-person main draw.

The Lady Bisons will open their season down I-24 at Middle Tennessee on January 19 followed by playing host to UAB in the home opener at the Whitworth Indoor Center on January 26.

Lipscomb will be in action at Whitworth during the months of January and February before heading outdoors to the Hutson-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center on campus in March.

Other headliners in the nonconference slate for the Purple and Gold include home matches with ETSU (Feb. 3), Western Kentucky (Feb. 15) and Illinois State (Feb. 16).

The Lady Bisons will hit the road to take on Murray State (Feb. 9), Alabama (Feb. 10), UCONN (Feb. 23), Memphis (Feb. 24), Belmont (March 1) and Kentucky (March 3).

ASUN Conference action opens up March 23 on the road at North Alabama before coming home later in the week to face Kennesaw State (March 28).

Lipscomb's remaining home slate in league play features NJIT (April 4) and FGCU (April 6) before wrapping up the regular season at North Florida (April 11) and Stetson (April 13).

The Hatters will host the ASUN Championship April 18-20 in DeLand, Florida.
