Women's Tennis welcomes UAB Saturday in home opener

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb women's tennis team gets its home schedule underway at 7 p.m. Saturday when they welcome UAB to the Whitworth Racquet Club.

The match will be the first meeting in two years for the programs after last season's match was postponed due to weather. In 2017 the Lady Bisons dropped a 4-3 decision to the Blazers in the spring opener in Nashville.

Lipscomb (0-1) opened 2019 last weekend at Middle Tennessee with a 5-2 loss.

Maddox Bandy and Thabile Tshatedi picked up a doubles victory (6-0) for the Lady Bisons, before Vika Dzyuba and Denise Buberl earned victories in singles play. Dzyuba downed Kim Kermet in straight sets (6-3, 6-0), while Buberl defeated Zani Barnard (6-3, 3-6, 6-2).

UAB comes to Nashville with an 0-1 record after falling 7-0 to Alabama on Sunday.

Check on Saturday night for a full recap. Updates will also be posted to the team’s Twitter page (@LipscombWTennis).
