Women's tennis to visit NKU, host ETSU over weekend

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb women’s tennis team is hitting the courts again this weekend with a pair of matches, one away and one at home.

On Saturday, the Lady Bisons (1-1) will visit Northern Kentucky on Saturday for a 4:30 p.m. meeting.

The Purple and Gold will return to Lipscomb on Sunday for a 6 p.m. outing against ETSU at 6 p.m. at the Whitworth Racquet Club.

Last weekend, Lipscomb picked up its first win of the season, taking down UAB 4-3 in Nashville.

Each of the top-four seeded Lady Bisons (Vika Dzyuba, Kate Popova, Denise Buberl, and Madeleine Brooks) picked singles wins.

Buberl and Brooks combined for Lipscomb’s only doubles victory, pulling out a 6-0 sweep.

SCOUTING NORTHERN KENTUCKY:

The Highlanders are 1-2 on the season so far after defeating Bellarmine 4-2 in the season opener and then falling at Louisville (7-0) and against Ball State (4-3).

Margita Sunjic leads NKU with a 13-3 mark as the team’s top seed.

SCOUTING ETSU:

ETSU enters the weekend with a 1-1 record. They were swept by N.C. State 7-0 before winning at Virginia Tech 4-3.
