Women's Tennis keeps rolling with wins over Arkansas State, Presbyterian

NASHVILLE – Lipscomb women’s tennis completed a perfect weekend at home, despite weather forcing the matches indoors.

The Lady Bisons (10-3) earned a 6-1 win over Arkansas State Friday night before downing Presbyterian 4-1 Saturday.

“We played well against two good teams this weekend,” Lipscomb head coach Jamie Aid said. “We have really been trying to work on the offensive part of our game this week and we saw some good play from top to bottom.

“I was very happy with the fight and energy they showed in both matches.

Lipscomb’s top four in singles all finished an undefeated weekend, combining to go 7-0.

Senior Vika Dzyuba shined at the top spot, beating Arkansas State 6-2, 6-3 and Presbyterian 6-2, 6-0.

Sophomore Kate Popova was equally as dominant, also with a pair of sweeps. She won 6-0, 6-1 on Friday and 6-2, 6-4 on Saturday.

The Lady Bisons won both doubles matches without taking a loss. Dzyuba and Popova won 6-3 against ASU and 6-2 over PC.

The pairings of Thabile Tshatedi/Kate Kandyba and Buberl/Diachenko each earned a victory. The latter clinched the match on Friday 7-5, while Tshatedi and Kandyba clinched at No. 2 on Saturday, 6-2.
