FLORENCE, Ala. – The Lipscomb women’s tennis team continued its win streak Saturday when the Lady Bisons blanked North Alabama 7-0 on the road to open ASUN play.
Lipscomb improved to 12-3 on the year with its 5th-straight victory, marking the program’s longest win streak since winning seven in a row in 2016.
“I thought we started off the conference schedule with lots of energy throughout the lineup,” said head coach Jamie Aid. “I am very happy with the focus our girls played with on the road.”
The Lady Bisons got rolling with the doubles point in the fourth straight outing.
Denise Buberl and Madeleine Brooks quickly gave the purple and gold the advantage with a 6-0 sweep at number two. Vika Dzyuba and Kate Popova clinched the point shortly thereafter with a 6-2 win in the top spot.
In singles, Lipscomb swept five of the six matches. Dzyuba downed Payton Andrews 6-2, 6-2 on court one, before Brooks and freshman Liza Diachenko won their respective matches by scores of 6-1, 6-2 on courts three and five.
In the second slot, Popova battled back after going down 1-6 in her first set with Sydney Flesch. The sophomore stormed back to take the match 6-2, 10-2.
UNA dopped to 5-9 with the loss.
The Lady Bisons return to the court Thursday to host Kennesaw State at 10 a.m. in the ASUN home opener.
