Lady Bisons track and field gets two-time state discus champ

Lipscomb University track and field coach Karen Robichaud has announced the signing of Hannah Joiner from Maumelle, Ark.

"The first time I stepped on the campus I felt like I was supposed to be here," said Joiner. "The spiritual side was exactly what I wanted out of a school.

Joiner is a two-time state champion in the discus. She is also the reigning Miss Teen Arkansas for 2005-2006.

Joiner,5-foot-7, was an all-around athlete at Central Arkansas Christian, lettering in track and field and volleyball for four years and basketball for three years. She played on state champion basketball teams in 2005 and 2006.

She was named to the All-State team in track and field in 2004, 2005 and 2006. She was the team MVP in 2004, 2005 and 2006. In 2006 she was also named All-Metro.

Her personal best in the shot put is 34 feet, eight inches. Her personal best in the discus is 124 feet.

Off the field she has also been active. She was Top 10 finalist in the Miss Teen America pageant. Academically, she is member of the Student Council, National Honor Society, BETA Club, MU Alpha Theta, Girl's State representative, All-Academic Team (2006) and Key Club. She was named "Most Spirited" Senior.

Joiner plans to major in pre-architecture.

Her parents are Tani and Kelly Joiner.
