NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After a week off following a busy end to the month of January, Lipscomb track and field will be back on the road at the Indiana Hoosier Hills Invite, beginning Friday at Indiana University’s Gladstein Fieldhouse.
Lipscomb will face high-quality competition in the final meet before the Atlantic Sun Indoor Championships. In addition to the host Hoosiers, whose men’s team is ranked 12th nationally by the USTFCCCA, the Bison and Lady Bison squads will face athletes from schools such as Louisville, Marqutte, Purdue, Eastern Kentucky and Xavier during the course of competition.
The Bison and Lady Bison squads were off last weekend following a busy three-day, two-meet schedule that had them in Johnson City for the ETSU Niswonger Invitational (Jan. 27-28) and back in Nashville Jan. 29 for the TSU Invite.
Sophomore Tucker Peabody (200m and 60m dashes) and freshmen Matthew Deery (pole vault and 60m hurdles), Colin Dempster (400m dash) and April Terry (weight throw) each set school records during Lipscomb’s three days of competition.
Peabody’s school-record 21.28s 200m dash at the Niswonger has him ranked 19th in the nation and first in the Atlantic Sun entering this weekend. The Lady Bison distance medley team of sophomores Dani Walker and Tessa Hoefle and freshmen Brenna Thompson and Megan McClain leads the Atlantic Sun in that even entering this weekend following their winning time of 12:13.51s at the TSU Invite.
The LU track and field squads will be back in Johnson City Feb. 17-18 for the A-Sun Indoor Championships, hosted by ETSU.
