NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb’s Dani Walker has been named the Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week by the Atlantic Sun, announced Wednesday by the office.
The senior distance runner snagged the award after finishing first in the 1500 meters at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invite where she crossed the line in 4:21.
She broke the school record by three seconds. It also lowered her personal record by nine seconds.
She currently leads the A-Sun in the 1500 meters, seven seconds ahead of the second-best time and 16 seconds ahead of the third-best time.
Walker ranks second in the NCAA East Region and sixth in the nation.
This is the sixth time in her career and the first time this season that Walker has been honored as Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
