Lipscomb University track and cross country coach Karen Robichaud has announced the signing of Shannon Shoemake from Nashville.

Shoemake, 5-foot-4, will run both cross country and track for the Lady Bisons.

She closed out her high school career at Brentwood Academy with a 5:22 in the 1600-meter run at the Vanderbilt Distance Carnival. She also competed in the 800-meter, 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs at the TSSAA State Track Meet. Her personal best in the 3200-meter run is 12:02.

Shoemake lettered in both track and cross country for four years. She was the team captain of both teams.

In 2004 Brentwood Academy won the State Cross Country Championship. In 2004 and 2005 Brentwood Academy was the state runner-up.

"I chose Lipscomb because of the strong Christian environment," said Shoemake. "I really liked the atmosphere."

In high school Shoemake was member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Mu Alpha Theta and the Headmaster's Roll.

She is the daughter of Barbara and Joe Shoemake. She plans to major in elementary education.
