Arkansas All-State performer will throw discus, shot for Lady Bisons

Lipscomb University track and field coach Karen Robichaud has announced the signing of Hannah Joiner from Maumelle, Ark.

Joiner, a graduate of Central Arkansas Christian School, was Miss Teen Arkansas in 2005, finishing in the top 10 nationally in the beauty contest. She is also a three-time All-State selection in track and field, specializing in the shot and discus.

Joiner, 5-foot-7, has recorded personal bests of 34 feet, 8 inches in the shot put and 124 feet in the discus. She is a two-time State Champion in the discus. She also participates in the 100-meter hurdle.

She served as team captain in track and field for three seasons. She also lettered four years in track and volleyball and three years in basketball. She was team MVP in track and field in 2004, 2005 and 2006. She was also an All-Metro selection in 2006.

In basketball she helped her team win back-to-back State Championships in 2005 and 2006.

Her other high school achievements include the Student Council, National Honor Society, BETA Club, Mu Alpha Theta treasurer, Girls' State representative, Key Club, Most Spirited Senior superlative and the 2006 All-Academic Team.

"The first time I stepped on the Lipscomb campus I felt like I was supposed to be here," said Joiner. "The spiritual side was exactly what I wanted out of a school."

Joiner plans to pursue studies in pre-architecture.

She is the daughter of Tani and Kelly Joiner.
