Lady Bisons add five new track athletes
Coach Bill Taylor has announced the addition of five new recruits to the Lipscomb Lady Bisons track & field team for the 2010-2011 school year.

The new additions are:

Jonelle Cathey-Harper (The Woodlands, Texas): Jonelle has been a member of five District Championship teams at The Woodlands High School, has placed fourth in the Texas state meet in the 4x200m relay and has run on a 4x400m relay that went 3:46, placed second in the region and qualified for state. Although primarily used on elite relays, Jonelle’s PRs are 12.3 100m, 25.5 200m and a 58.6 400m relay split. Jonelle will study Political Science at Lipscomb. She chose Lipscomb because she felt it is an incredible place to grow mentally, physically and spiritually.

Julia Shrewsberry (Lake Placid, Fla.): Julia will be a redshirt freshman transfer from Florida State University. A multi-sport athlete participating in volleyball, soccer and weightlifting at Lake Placid High School, she was a hurdle specialist in track. Julia won the district championship in the 100 hurdles all four years of high school. She also won the district 300m hurdles in 2007 and 2008. She was the team captain for her volleyball and track teams her senior year, and was track & field MVP three years. She earned numerous awards for all sports while at Lake Placid, most notably several hustle awards for her strong work ethic. Her PRs are 16.10 for the 100m hurdles and 49.71 for the 300m hurdles. An honors student, Julia will study Communications at Lipscomb. She chose Lipscomb because she wanted a strong Christian environment and she fell in love with the people and the campus.

Natalie Stewart (Nashville, Tenn.): Natalie primarily ran the hurdles and triple jumped for Nashville Christian School; however she has posted marks in nearly every event and will likely try the heptathlon at Lipscomb. Her PRs in the hurdles and triple jump are 16.61 100m hurdles, 49.49 300m hurdles, and 33-0 for the triple jump. She is the school record holder for both hurdle events. She will study Music at Lipscomb. She chose Lipscomb because it has all the opportunities she was looking for in a college.

Sadie Stone (Louisville, Ky.): Sadie won a Kentucky state championship in the 100m hurdles this track season. She also finished second with her 4x200m relay team and third in the 300m hurdles. Sadie was Regional Champion in both hurdle races as well. This track season she was named a team captain and was homecoming queen for the Christian Academy of Louisville. An honors student, Sadie is undecided about what she will study at Lipscomb. She chose Lipscomb because she loved the campus, atmosphere, city of Nashville and the people at Lipscomb.

Oneisha Smith (Chapel Hill, Ga.): Oneisha signed with the Lipscomb University basketball team and has indicated she would like to participate in the high jump for Lipscomb after the basketball season is over. She was the Georgia state champion in the high jump this year with a leap of 5-8.
