NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb University’s track and field teams will begin the 2011-12 track and field season at the MTSU Christmas Invitational Saturday, at 10 a.m. The event will be held at MTSU’s Murphy Center.
Lipscomb’s sprinters will get their first work of the season at this meet. Sophomore Tucker Peabody and freshmen Kenny Smith, Jeremy Voss, Andrew Wolf and Gemikal Prude will compete in sprints for the men, while senior Valerie Winkler and freshman Brenna Thompson will compete for the women’s team.
Peabody, Smith, Wolf and junior Logan Ray will compete in the 4x400m relay event as well, while Voss, Wolf and senior Dillon Seigenthaler will run in the 55m hurdles event.
Prude will get his first collegiate action in the jumps, competing with Seigenthaler and junior Ryan Powell in the long jump and junior Adam Austin in the high jump. Ray will represent the Bisons in the triple jump.
Seigenthaler will be the lone male representative in the throws at MTSU, kicking off his day with the shot put. Acclaimed freshman April Terry will compete for the women in the shot and weight throw.
Freshman Abby Dodson will also be in attendance and compete in the pole vault.
“With so many people taking exams around this time, it was hard to get a large group together for this meet,” said Lipscomb head coach Bill Taylor. “I’m excited to see what we get out of the athletes that are competing this weekend.”
Lipscomb will have a long break during the holidays before returning to action at Tennessee State’s Ed Temple Classic, Jan. 7.
