NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Closing out the Nashville portion of their schedule, the Lipscomb track and field teams completed the Vanderbilt Invite on Saturday with a first place, a second place and a trio of third place finishes.
After winning the 200-meter dash on Friday, Tucker Peabody again found himself at the top of the podium. In the 100-meter dash, Peabody claimed first place in 10.63 seconds. He finished ahead of Noah Akwu of Middle Tennessee State who finished in 10.69 seconds.
Katie Bunker finished on the podium in the 800-meter run with the help of a personal record. Her time of 2:09.38 was good enough for the bronze medal finishing behind Austin Peay’s Chantelle Grey and Vanderbilt’s Kristen Findley.
Earning a silver medal, Gemikal Prude had a leap of 2.12 meters to finish behind Arkansas State’s Kashef Daniel.
Breaking her own school record, April Terry finished sixth in the hammer throw. Her toss of 47.53 meters was more than a meter better than Tennessee’s Rejean Rouse.
Freshman Andrew Bosket set a personal record in the 800-meter run. His time of 1:54.03 gave him eighth place and finished just behind VCU’s Khalid Khamis.
Andrew Wolf finished just off the podium in the 110-meter hurdles. His time of 15.13 claimed fourth place, four-hundredths of a second out of third place.
In a back-to-back finish in the 400-meter hurdles Scott Nelson finished third overall in 53.86 seconds. Wolf finished just behind him in 54.02 seconds. Ryan Whitley claimed sixth place in 54.61 seconds as all three Bisons finished in personal record time.
The Bisons 4X100 relay team claimed the bronze medal finishing behind Tennessee State and Middle Tennessee State. The combination of Kenny Smith, Peabody, Whitley and Jalen Thompson finished in 41.80 seconds.
Lipscomb will take next weekend off before returning to the track for the Billy Hayes Invite in Bloomington, Ind., for the final meet before the Atlantic Sun Championships.
