MACON, Ga. – After a commanding performance at the Emory Invite on Sunday, sophomore Barbara Lee Ball has earned the Atlantic Sun Indoor Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.
During the meet, Ball won the 5000m with an A-Sun leading time of 17:04.00. She lapped the entire field at least once over the course of the race, and lapped several runners multiple times. The time was the fastest in the A-Sun since 2013.
Ball now leads the A-Sun in the 3000m and the 5000m, and is ranked 28th in the nation for the latter.
Ball shared the honor with Jacksonville’s Shadaey Campbell. The award is her first Player of the Week honor.
The Bisons track and field squad will return to action Feb. 1 in Nashville at the TSU Invite.
