NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb track and field squad completed another successful weekend as the Bisons turned in strong performances at the Georgia Tech Invitational, Virginia Challenge, and Bellarmine Classic.
Sophomore Courtney Brenner grabbed a win in the 10,000m at Virginia as she posted a time of 34:03.77 in to earn first place.
Senior Katie Sperry placed ninth in the same race with a time of 35:27.90.
In the men’s 800m, freshman Jonathan Schwind (1:51.45) and junior Ryan Speer (1:51.92) placed 13th and 15th, respectively.
At Georgia Tech, graduate senior Wayne Newman led the way with a second place performance in the 110m hurdles. He finished in 14.06 seconds.
Sophomore Robert Rupp placed fourth in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 9:22.52, while junior Clare Losito also placed fourth in the women’s race in the event at 11:05.27.
Freshman Jonathan Imes placed fourth in the 400m with a time of 47.56 seconds.
Sophomore Ahmed Amaar finished 12th in the 200m (21.54 seconds) and 13th in the 100m (10.83 seconds).
Freshman Grant Mason also raced in the 200m, finishing ninth (21.46 seconds).
Senior Jake Poyner finished 12th in the 1500m with a time of 3:56.63.
Freshman Kayle Rudie finished 14th with a time of 17:46.87 in the 5000m, while sophomore Kyle Johnson placed 16th with a 14:57.34 mark in men’s race.
Senior Avery Franklin placed 19th with a 17:51.44 mark in the same race.
At the Bellarmine Classic, senior Kade Hinkle led the way with a win in the discus throw with a mark of 41.72m.
He also placed fifth in the shot put (11.71m) and 10th in the javelin (40.24m).
Sophomore Randolph Wilkerson finished ninth in the 100m with a time of 11.36 seconds.
The Bisons will be off next weekend before coming back in May to close out the regular season at the Kentucky Relays and Ole Miss Classic.
