LakePoint, Ga. – For the second time in her career, Lipscomb sophomore Courtney Brenner has been named the ASUN Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the league offices on Wednesday.
The win is her sixth career ASUN weekly award overall, previously winning once last season for outdoor, once this year for indoor, and three times for her most recent cross country season.
The win is the second in a row for the Lady Bisons after senior Avery Franklin won last weekend.
Brenner nabbed the honor after setting a new school and personal record by winning the 10,000m in 34:03.77 at the Virginia Challenge, one of the most competitive distance meets in the nation.
She broke her previous personal record by 57 seconds and the school record by 37 seconds.
Her time leads the ASUN, is 13th in the East Region, and ranks 32nd in the nation. It would also be good enough to set a new record at the ASUN Outdoor Championship.
Brenner and the rest of the Bisons will close out the regular season in two weeks at the Kentucky Relays and Ole Miss classic.
