Track and field grabs three wins in split weekend

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb track and field squad split for a pair of meets this weekend, earning a trio of wins at the Husker Invitational and the Don DeNoon Invitation.

At the Husker Invite in Lincoln, Nebraska, the Bisons earned two individual wins and six top-10 finishes.

For the second week in a row, sophomore Jonathan Schwind came away with a win, this time in the 800m. He finished with a time of 1:51.51.

Junior Courtney Brenner also grabbed a win in Lincoln, placing first in the 1000m with a time of 9:40.10.

Sophomores Kayla Rudie (10:09.90) and Grace Lahey (10:13.19) finished 10th and 12th in the same event.

Junior Zach Israel (8:23.49) finished fourth in the 3000m, while sophomore Jonathan Imes (48.25 seconds) earned fourth in the 400m.

Senior Ryan Speer (1:12.09) took sixth in the 600m.

Freshman Alex Tirado grabbed Lipscomb’s only win at the Don DeNoon Invite at Southern Illinois, placing first in the 200m in 22.51 seconds.

Senior Nathan Morgan (1:58.80) grabbed second in the 800m.

Freshman Demontae Wilson finished third in the 400m in 50.85 seconds, and junior Randolph Wilkerson placed third in the 60m in 7.06 seconds.

In the 60m hurdles, Wilkerson came in seventh (8.57 seconds), while sophomore Jacob Snyder finished sixth (8.56 seconds).

Sophomore Tia Calvin (26.63 seconds) finished sixth in the women’s 200m, while freshman Donovan Ross (23.45 seconds) finished sixth in the men’s.

Senior Clare Losito (2:26.01) tallied a seventh-place finish in the 800m.

Losito (5:16.79) also placed eighth in the women’s mile run, while freshman Jared Touart (4:24.76) placed eighth in the men’s.

The track and field squad will be back next weekend with another split between the Samford Invite in Birmingham, Alabama and the Music City Invite at Vanderbilt.
