2014 Track and Field: Placed first at the TSU Invite in the pole vault with a leap of 3.56 meters, breaking the indoor school record… Finished eighth at the Atlantic Sun Indoor Championships in the pole vault clearing a mark of 3.53 meters... In her first competition of the outdoor season, Backlund took home first place in the pole vault at the Rhodes Open landing a 3.66 meters jump, claiming her personal best mark in the event and the outdoor school record… Finished second at the Shamrock Invite in the pole vault with a distance of 3.65 meters… Snagged first at the Boston-Moon Classic with her vault of 3.35 meters… Finished fifth at the A-Sun Outdoor Championships in the pole vault (3.51 meters). 

Prep: Competed under Coach Charles Chapman at Murrieta Valley High School in Wildomar, Calif.... League Champion in volleyball in 2009... League Champion in track and field in 2013... CIF Southern Section Division II Champion in the pole vault... Named to All-League Scholastic Team 2010-13... 2009 volleyball captain and track and field captain 2011-13... Lettered in both track and field and volleyball in high school... Personal record in pole vault was 11'9", second-best vault in school history... Named Senior Student of the Year... Received Scholar Athlete Award and Outstanding Accomplishment and Excellence in Science.  

Personal: Daughter of Andrew and Greta Backlund... She has four brothers (Erik, Andrew, Donald, and Stanley) and three sisters (Carly, Ingabritt, and Dana)... Plans to major in nursing.
