Men's golf to open slate at Memphis Intercollegiate

NASHVILLE, Tenn.  – The Lipscomb men’s golf team is set to get the 2014 fall season underway this week with a trip west for the Memphis Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Memphis on Monday and Tuesday.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity to compete in Memphis,” said Lipscomb head coach Will Brewer. “We’ve upped our strength of schedule quite a bit, so this is our first test. It will test us quickly to see where we are and what we need to work on.”

The 54-hole event hosted at the Colonial Country Club gets underway Monday with 36 holes on the course that plays 7,334 yards.  Tuesday will wrap things up with 18 holes to conclude the tournament.

“I think we have a chance to compete really well,” said Brewer. “I think top to bottom we are more competitive this year compared to last. We are definitely strong and we’re getting better and improving.  We still have a ways to go but I feel very good about this year’s team."

Joining the Bisons in the field are Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Belmont, Cincinnati, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Toledo and Western Kentucky.

Live scoring for the event will be available at
