LakePoint, Ga. – For the eighth time in his illustrious Bison career, senior Wayne Newman has been named the ASUN Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league offices on Wednesday.
The win gives Newman six career outdoor weekly honors, including two for the current outdoor campaign.
This also moves his total up to four wins on the year after securing two during the indoor portion of the season.
The Arizona native blazed to a second place finish in the 110m hurdles at the Crimson Tide Invite with a time of 13.99 seconds.
His time in the event currently leads the ASUN, ranks 11th in the NCAA East Region, and 22nd in the nation.
He also competed in the 400m hurdles, posting a time of 53.62 seconds to take eighth.
Newman and the rest of the Bisons will be splitting up into three meets over the weekend: the Mt. SAC Relays, the Austin Peay Invite, and the Bison Outdoor Classic.
