Schwind earns fourth career ASUN weekly honor

ATLANTA – Lipscomb track and field’s Jonathan Schwind has been named the ASUN Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league offices on Wednesday.

The sophomore’s win was his second of the season and fourth ASUN weekly honor overall after taking home two last spring for indoor.

Schwind’s performance over the weekend included a sweep of his two events at the Tiger Track Classic hosted by Auburn in Alabama.

In the 1500m, Schwind ran a blazing time of 3:46.10, setting a new facility record at Hutsell-Rosen Track and shaving two seconds off his own program outdoor record set last week.

He also won the 800m, finishing in a time of 1:49.44. He currently ranks 14th in the East Region for the 800m and 29th nationally, while he sits in 20th and 41st for the 1,500m, respectively.

Schwind and the Bisons will be back on the track this weekend at the Berry Field Day Invite.
