Leber named ASUN Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

ATLANTA - Lipscomb’s Brent Leber was named the ASUN Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday after a strong performance at the Music City Challenge over the weekend.

The honor is the first for Leber for indoor track and his fourth ASUN weekly honor overall after taking home three for cross country during his career.

On Saturday across town at Vanderbilt, Leber won the men’s 5000m with a time of 14:01.10, finishing 24 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher and setting a new school record in the process. The time is the top mark in the ASUN this season for the event.

Leber’s mark was one of four program records set in a successful weekend for the Bisons. The award is also the fourth ASUN weekly honor the Purple and Gold have taken home during the indoor season.

The Bisons have the weekend off in preparation for the ASUN Indoor Championships, which take place on Feb. 28 and 29 in Lynchburg, Virginia.
