Ryman notches 400th win as Lipscomb sweeps Samford Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Lipscomb softball team needed four victories heading into the weekend for head coach Kristin Ryman to earn her 400th career win, and the Lady Bisons responded with a four-game sweep of the Samford Invitational.

Lipscomb (9-2) closed out the invite with a 3-1 win over the host Bulldogs to help Ryman reach the milestone.

Junior Mandy Jordan came through with her second victory of the weekend, pitching five strikeouts and allowing just four hits. She is now 5-0 on the season.

Lipscomb allowed an early Indiana run in the second, but struck back in the third with a run of their own to tie the game at 1-1.

Senior Abby Fenichel doubled down the right field line, and junior Sarah Higgins followed with a double of her own to score Fenichel.

Lipscomb grabbed two more runs in the fourth. Junior Khayla Green led off the inning with a walk. Sophomore Peyton Ward then singled, advancing Green to second.

Fenichel came through again, doubling down the right field line to score both runners and give Lipscomb a 3-1 lead that they would not relinquish.
