DeVault, Jordan named NFCA All-Region

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Lipscomb softball’s Hannah DeVault and Mandy Jordan were named to the 2019 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Southeast Region Third Team on Thursday.

The award honors softball student-athletes from the Association’s 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for the 2019 NFCA Division I All-America squads.

DeVault and Jordan were Lipscomb’s first honorees since Caitlin Plocheck was also named to the Third Team in 2017.

DeVault was recently named the ASUN Player of the Year and won her second consecutive ASUN Defensive Player of the Year award. She became the first player to win both awards in the same season.

The junior second baseman was also unanimously voted onto the All-Conference First Team after a statistically dominant season. Heading into the NCAA Regional, DeVault leads the ASUN in RBI (51), doubles (20), slugging percentage (.638), and extra base hits (27).

She also ranks in the top five with 10 home runs (second), 104 total bases (second), a .450 OBP (fourth), 54 hits (eighth), 39 runs (second), and 36 walks (second). She is also 10th in batting average at .331. She leads Lipscomb in all of those categories except for runs scored.

On defense, she has recorded 115 putouts and made 70 assists with just five errors and a .974 fielding percentage.

Jordan was voted onto the ASUN Second All-Conference Team, her second career All-Conference designation.

The senior has been the Bisons number one pitcher all season, compiling an 18-7 record and making four saves in 30 appearances.

Her 1.81 ERA is sixth in the league. She is tied for first in wins, second in saves, sixth in innings pitched (170), and sixth in strikeouts (154). 16 of her 21 starts were complete games (fifth in the ASUN), which is fifth in the ASUN.

Other ASUN members to make the All-Region teams include: Liberty’s Julia DiMartino (First), Amber Bishop (First), Chase Cassady (Second), Sarah Robertson (Second), and Jaclyn Amader (Third) in the Mid-Atlantic Region, and North Alabama’s Megan Garst joining Lipscomb’s duo on the Southeast Region Third Team.

Lipscomb has had five total NFCA All-Region nominations in history. DeVault, Jordan, Plocheck, Kelsey Cartwright in 2012, and Whitney Kiihnl in 2010.

Lipscomb will face Arizona State in the NCAA Regional in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Thursday at 3 p.m.
