XC's Talbert nabs back-to-back A-Sun weekly honors

MACON, Ga. – For the second week in a row, Lipscomb senior Madi Talbert has been named the Atlantic Sun Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Talbert has earned eight Runner of the Week awards in her career as a Bison, with five coming in cross country and three in track and field. Her five wins for cross country is tied for third most in A-Sun history.

A strong performance at the Greater Louisville Classic over the weekend helped the Charlotte, N.C. native nab this week’s award. She finished 23rd out of a field of 260 runners in the 5K with a time of 17:22.0, the fastest in the A-Sun this week.

Talbert helped the Purple and Gold to a fifth-place finish out of a highly-competitive field of 30 teams, finishing above Ohio State, Wiconsin, Belmont, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss among others.

The Lady Bisons are now receiving 14 votes in the USTFCCCA National Poll, just four spots away from the top 30.

Lipscomb returns to action on October 16th at the Crimson Classic for their final meet before the A-Sun Championship.
