Lady Bisons fall 1-0 at Austin Peay
There will be no film at 11 p.m., 12 a.m. or 1 a.m.

Coach Jon Ireland has no plans to watch the game film of the Lipscomb Lady Bisons 1-0 loss to Austin Peay.

“There is nothing we can learn from this game,” Ireland said Monday night on the way back to Nashville from Clarksville. “This game was not indicative of our team is and what our team is going to be.”

When the Lady Bisons and Austin Peay Governors meet in women’s soccer one thing is constant _ no matter who wins no one is going to score more than a goal or two.

The Lady Bisons managed only two shots on goal with Kate Spellman and Danielle Bethke each getting one shot on goal. But that was not because the new 3-4-3 pressure attack was no effective.

The problem was that the Lady Bisons did not have enough healthy players to have any substitutes available.

“Our players’ legs were tired,” Ireland said. “Five minutes into the game we went back to a low pressure system. We didn’t have the numbers to run a high pressure style.”

Michele Johnson scored the lone goal of the game at 72:02 of the second half.

Lady Bisons goalkeeper Erin Zerio made seven saves.

“We hung in there for awhile,” Ireland said. “We fought hard. We just don’t have enough healthy players.”

In their first two games of the season Austin Peay, 2-1, has not given up and goal and has only allowed two shots on goal.

Austin Peay holds a 6-2-1 series advantage.

The Lady Bisons, 1-1, are back in action Friday night at 7 when Tennessee Martin visits the Lipscomb Soccer Complex. Sunday afternoon at 2 Jackson State will visit.
