MACON, Ga. – The Lipscomb track and field teams had a trio named the Atlantic Sun Conference Track and Field Athletes of the Week. Tucker Peabody, Taylor Mason and Katie Bunker garnered the honors after their strong performances last week at the Billy Hayes Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
Peabody, a junior from Memphis, Tenn., finished third in the 100-meter dash in the second-best time in the A-Sun this season. He finished in 10.49 seconds. Although finishing third, he was the second collegiate runner across the finish line. The award was the fourth of the season for Peabody and fifth of his career.
Mason, a senior from Inman, S.C., garnered her first career weekly honor after finishing second in the javelin throw. Her toss of 35.58 meters secured the silver medal.
Bunker, a junior from Cedarville, Ohio, finished second in the 1,500-meter run. Her time of 4:24.57 vaulted her second overall in the A-Sun heading into the A-Sun Championships this weekend. This is the second weekly honor of Bunker’s career.
Lipscomb returns to action Friday at the A-Sun Championships in Jacksonville, Fla.
