LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Lipscomb track and field squad ended the regular season on a high note on Saturday as the Bisons grabbed four wins and several top spots at the Kentucky Relays.
Sophomore Courtney Brenner earned another win in the 5000m on Saturday, finishing first with a time of 16:57.45. It was the only time under 17 minutes in the field.
Freshmen Jonathan Scwhwind and Grant Mason also nabbed first-place finishes.
Schwind won the 800m in 1:50.08, while Mason won the 100m in 10.87 second.
Fellow freshman Jonathan Imes finished fourth (11.03 seconds) behind Mason, while sophore Ahmed Amaar (11.04) finished fifth.
Mason, Imes, Amaar, and senior Wayne Newman combined to win the 4x100m relay with a time of 41.30 seconds.
In the men’s 400m, junior Ryan Speer placed second with a time of 48.69 seconds.
In the women’s 400m, freshman Jada Bogle placed fourth in 1:09.98.
Junior Clare Lostio placed seventh in the women’s 400m in 2:20.73, while senior Jacob Poyner grabbed sixth (3:58.56) in the men’s 1500m.
Following Brenner in the 5000m were junior Julia Fritz (17:55.90) in fourth and freshman Grace Lahey (18:23.21) in fifth.
Sophomore John Green (15:40.55) finished fourth in the men’s 5000m.
Lipscomb will begin the postseason with the ASUN Championships in Jacksonville next weekend. The event will begin on Friday, May 11 and continue on through Saturday, May 12.
