Wrapping up the 2012 regular season, the Lipscomb baseball team makes its shortest trip of the year this week for a key Atlantic Sun Conference series at rival Belmont beginning on Thursday night at E.S. Rose Park at 5 p.m.

Taking a sidestep from Atlantic Sun Conference play, the Bisons closed out the 2012 home slate with a 5-4 loss to Tennessee Tech that saw the Golden Eagles push across the winning run in the ninth inning.

The baseball team wraps up the 2012 home slate on Tuesday night with the final non-conference contest of the season as Tennessee Tech comes to Ken Dugan Field at Stephen L. Marsh Stadium for a 6 p.m. contest.

After leading the Lipscomb baseball team to a three-game sweep of league foe Jacksonville, junior third baseman Gray Hutchinson has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week as announced on Monday.

Weathering a persistent downpour and a ninth-inning rally, the Bisons swept an A-Sun doubleheader from Jacksonville taking game one 6-1 before earning the series sweep with a 6-2 victory in the nightcap on “Ken Dugan Day” at Dugan Field on Saturday.

With an inch of rain in the forecast for Sunday, the Lipscomb baseball team will now attempt to get an Atlantic Sun Conference doubleheader against Jacksonville in on Saturday if Mother Nature cooperates. First pitch for game two of the series is still slated for 2 p.m

For the second-straight Friday night, the Lipscomb baseball team walked off of Ken Dugan Field at Stephen L. Marsh Stadium with a win in their last at bat with a 7-6 Atlantic Sun Conference win over Jacksonville.

Unable to push runs across when it mattered, the Lipscomb baseball team dropped a tough 3-1 non-conference decision to homestanding Austin Peay on Tuesday night at Raymond C. Hand Park in Clarksville.
